What kind of inexpensive Glossy Photo Paper wont leave banding in an Epson Artison 800?
I am doing a charity gig in my home town and really love my Artison 800. I know it isn't top of the line, but it is what I have now. They have asked me to print pictures on site and this is a difficult task. I am very happy to do it, but the trip back home alone is going to break me. Can anyone suggest a paper that they know will work. I may be printing 100 plus photos and cant spend my entire budget on just paper.
I tried some paper that mother gave me and it left a lot of banding, I think it was Kodak, before that I only used Epson. Still leaning that way, so any coupons for in store purchases would be great. That would be the best answer, but I have had no luck there.
Please keep in mind I am still in the starting phase, I have never printed on site, but because of the down economy, I can't pass this up. I would like to spend less than $100.
Bad economy or not, if you are not going to cover your expenses and make the time you put into the event profitable to you in some way, you may want to reconsider your "I can't pass this up" thought
My guess is you have never run the numbers on the cost of printing using an inkjet printer (not including the time it takes to print 100 plus photos and redoing any bad prints).
The bottom line is, you can have prints made at a photo lab for about 1/3rd the cost of printing them yourself.
Are you giving these images away?
I think if you look into it, you will see that your $100 budget for paper (not including ink) is unrealistic.
You will want to buy a fresh milti-pack of Epson ink and calibrate the printer (About $80)
You will also need Epson photo print paper to assure accurate colour rendering (About $15.50 for each 20 sheet packet)
What is your budget? Is it a realistic one or one just pulled out of the air.
NOTE: Charities have a lot of money to spend on PR and advertising. If you are doing this pro bono and have to cover all your expenses, you will want to nix the idea of printing on site and go with a photo lab. Mail all the prints to the charity and let them handle the distribution.
Here is something you may want to consider before you get too much into this.
There is a critical piece I don't think you have considered.
Monitor and printer calibration and profiling.
