How to get crayon off of photograph?
I bought a signed hand-made photo (on Swiss-made paper) from the Thrift store awhile back. Unfortunately the workers at the store scribbled the price on the back of the photo frame, part of it written over the signature. I've tried everything except send it in to a pro, which I can't because I don't have any money. Any suggestions that will help me fix this frustrating mistake would be appreciated. I collect oddities and am very disappointed that this happened, so please help! Or refer me to a cheap pro who can help.
WD 40 will take off the crayon, but it will ruin the paper. Don't use it. This will decrease the value more severely than the crayon.
You're best bet is take it to a real conservator. If you can't afford it now, save up. Hold onto the photo until you can have the job done right.
