i was going to print and cut out this picture for the cd. then glue it on with a glue stick. should i do this or will it wreck the cd player. or should i get those stick and peel things

Icc Profile

ICC profile - printing with pro lab?

The photography lab I use tells me specific instruction in setting the ICC profile to coordinate with their printers - then the next sentence suggests getting a calibrator for the monitor (spyder 2) - so do I set adobe photoshop according to their specifications, regarding ICC profile (sRGB) or do I set it to the spyder 2 profile once calibrated with that hardware? Or do the 2 work together some how once calibrated with spyder? I'm confused, I've been getting prints that are having orange skin tones so I very much want to get this problem resolved - any help is appreciated

They are suggesting monitor calibration with a Spyder or other colorimeter as you monitor is not showing you correct colour.

The Spyder writes an ICC profile that sits between you graphics card and monitor adjust the colour in the file (the RGB values) to be more accurately rendered on your monitor.

Then when you apply their ICC profile to your picture file, your monitor will show pretty accurately what to expect from their prints.

You can view your pictures using any profile in Photoshop by opening the image and go to Edit>Convert to profile and select the profile they sent you, if your monitor is calibrated by using a Spyder or similar you won't see much change.

Save this file and send it to the print house, the picture they send you back should match your monitor pretty accurately.

There is one proviso, your monitor is emitting light the prints are reflecting light so may look dimmer and to be really accurate your prints should be viewed with Daylight. Your print will reflect the light thats shining on them so if this light has a colour cast such as tungsten or fluorescent then that will make the prints look wrong.

Why do my pictures print out pixelated?

I'm trying to print photos out on Kodak Premium Photo Paper. My pictures have no pixelation when they're on the computer since I use a good camera & I don't mess with them a whole lot of photoshop. But once I print them out, they look pixelated. Why is this happening, & is there someway to fix it? I can't keep wasting expensive paper on tests.

Your computer "sees" 72 DPI no matter how much higher resolution the image is set to. Printing requires that you have the resolution set to 300 DPI, if not the images will be pixelated, especially if you are NOT in the habit of shooting with your camera ALWAYS set at its highest resolution.

Digital Photo Album - cant connect to computer?

I got a Colby Digital Photo Album and I am trying to connect it to my computer to transfer photos onto it.
I connected the USB connecter to the album and to the computer and it is saying found new device ready to use.
I clicked on my computer and it says Removable Disk (G), when I click on this it is saying please insert a disk into drive G.

Any ideas? Doing my head in!!
No disc or cd came with it! Just the USB connector

First of all make sure your computer says "device is ready to use" and make sure it is in your "G" drive. Maybe its in another one.

got my theatre headshots on a cd today, but can't find 8x10 photo paper?

I have two headshots, originally printed, but to make copies I would have to print them out on photo paper. I bought HP Photo Paper (Soft Gloss) a couple of months ago in 8.5x11 because in all of the brands of photo paper, that was the size they had. How do you go about printing these photos in 8x10? Should I go to a place to get it done or trim it (which I'm afraid I may mess up if I do that.) Suggestions please? Thanks (:

Use 8.5 x 11 paper, but print it (using print menu) as 8X10. It should wind up being centered on the page. If you're only going to print a few, you can trim them with an x-acto knife and straight edge on a cutting mat.

If you're going for quantity, take them to a repro store; they should also put your name on them.
